Bucharest, October 29th, 2025. Ahead of Black Friday, the largest annual retail discount campaign held every November, FAN Courier announces that it has increased its automated sorting capacity to over 2.2 million parcels per day. Anticipating a delivery volume increase of over 20% compared to the same period last year, the company began preparations as early as summer to further streamline deliveries and reduce customer waiting times.
To ensure smooth operations during the discount campaign, the courier company has made significant investments in fixed-point delivery solutions — the FANbox and Collect Point networks — as well as in automation and technology. A new automated sorting belt with a capacity of over 30,000 parcels per hour was installed at the Ștefăneștii de Jos HUB, alongside continued investments in fleet expansion and courier teams.
Ahead of the discount campaign, FAN Courier strengthened its teams — now operating with over 9,000 employees — and increased the automatic sorting and processing capacity through new sorting belts. The company also expanded its fixed delivery network to around 5,500 locations, more than half of which are FANbox lockers. In preparation for the major discount season, the company accelerated the expansion of its locker network through an additional €5 million investment. FANbox is one of the company’s largest investments in recent years and a key advantage for fast and efficient deliveries.
“Although the local e-commerce market started the year at a slower pace, reflecting increased consumer caution, we’ve seen a rebound in online shopping appetite in the second half of the year. Therefore, we expect an intense Black Friday, with a delivery volume over 20% higher than the same period last year. Our forecasts, though cautious, are based on ongoing discussions with our retail partners. Every year, we begin preparations during summer to adjust logistics processes and support large-scale sales campaigns.
In recent years, we’ve seen a clear shift in customer behavior — more people now choose ‘out-of-home’ deliveries for flexibility and convenience. That’s why we’ve continuously invested in the FANbox locker network. A significant part of our investments goes into automation, technology, fleet expansion, and courier training. We’ve opened new HUBs and upgraded existing ones for better efficiency. For example, our new center in Bacău and the state-of-the-art sorting belt in Ștefănești ensure higher operational capacity and shorter processing times. We’re fully prepared to successfully handle the Black Friday campaign,” said Adrian Mihai, CEO and co-founder of FAN Courier.
In 2025, FAN Courier acquired 500 new lockers and 350 extensions for existing units, significantly increasing delivery capacity and the number of available compartments. The FANbox network, which will soon exceed 3,000 units nationwide, is complemented by over 2,000 additional pickup and drop-off points — Collect Points and FAN Courier offices.
The company plans to further expand locker delivery capacity by purchasing an additional 600 modules for existing units. This expansion responds to growing demand for out-of-home deliveries, a rising trend among Romanian consumers who prefer to collect parcels according to their own schedules, without depending on courier arrival times.
Alongside the locker network expansion, FAN Courier made significant investments in automation and technology, including a new automated sorting belt at the Ștefăneștii de Jos HUB, adding roughly 30,000 parcels per hour in sorting capacity. Thus, the company’s total processing capacity in Bucharest now exceeds 2.2 million parcels per day — a performance made possible by continuous modernization of internal workflows.
FAN Courier also continues to invest in digitalization and advanced IT solutions that enable real-time parcel tracking, faster communication with recipients, and flexible redirection options via its mobile app and smart link sent by SMS. The company increasingly relies on technology integration to provide customers with a simple, predictable, and sustainable delivery experience.
At the same time, FAN Courier continues to invest heavily in international expansion, strengthening its presence in Central and Western Europe and the Republic of Moldova. It provides regional sellers with integrated, flexible, and scalable logistics solutions covering the entire logistics chain — from domestic and international transport to warehousing, stock management, fulfillment, delivery, customs clearance, and return processing.
This year, FAN Courier began operations in Poland, a strategic area for European e-commerce, offering customers optimized delivery times and quick access to Western and Northern European markets. The company is also developing its services and operations in the Republic of Moldova, consolidating its position as a key logistics hub between the European Union and eastern markets.
In the fulfillment segment, FAN Courier is preparing for a major logistics expansion phase designed to increase processing capacity, delivery accuracy, and operational flexibility for cross-border e-commerce sellers. Through modern stock management technologies, automation, and digital integration with leading e-commerce platforms, it provides clients with full transparency and maximum efficiency.
In parallel, the company continues to invest in logistics infrastructure, focusing on expanding storage space, modernizing its fleet, and implementing sustainable transport solutions. It is also developing multimodal and maritime transport services, combining road, rail, and sea freight options to reduce costs and transit times.
Through these investments and initiatives, FAN Courier aims to become a strategic logistics partner for sellers seeking to expand across Europe, benefiting from a complete service ecosystem, modern infrastructure, and personalized support at every stage of the supply chain.
